I’m trying to work out some technical problems right now but I will have some posts up soon. I have one about gardening that will be up as soon as things are fixed!
So yesterday was the first lawn mowing day of the year. Yay! And it was well over due because our back yard was starting to look like a jungle.
The yard turned out great because we have an awesome mowing team.
Here are a few pictures after they were done
So I will leave you with a picture of this ham bone!
Today was just crazy! We were doing yard work. First lawn mowing of the season!
I took some pictures but I’m still working on getting them together and I will post them tomorrow.
I hope everyone had a great day!
My cousin recently spent four months in Kokhanok Alaska teaching at their school.
In some of her pictures i saw that she had this amazing hoodie for the Konhanok Warlords. I thought it was epic and I wanted one.
So I sent her the money to buy one and I just got it the other day!
It fits perfectly! It’s so comfy and I absolutely love it. And what makes it even better is that know else in my small town has one.
So Sarah, thank you so much for bringing this back for me! It’s awesome! I am proud to represent the Konhanok Warlords.
So the other day I did a post on how to bleach shorts. Today I’m doing a tutorial on how to dye them. I had a great time doing this and I just love how they turned out!
All you need is a pair of rubber gloves, a tub, some Rit dye, and something to mix it up with.
You wanna start with some white or bleached shorts. You can see my tutorial on bleaching here.
First thing you do is fill your tub with 3 gallons of HOT water, and hot as you can get.
Then add about half your bottle of Rit and stir it around then place your shorts in the water.
It’s recommended on the Rit dye bottle that you use the whole thing when dying light things but my shorts came out plenty bright with just half a bottle. You can always add more later if you want.
So once you have the shorts in the dye set a timer for 30 minutes and move the shorts around constantly.
Just know that they will look darker when they’re wet. So dye them darker then you want them to be and then when you rinse them and dry them they will be about the color you wanted.
If your 30 minutes are up and you still want your shorts darker leave them in for another 20 minutes constantly moving them.
Once you are happy with your shorts empty your dye and rinse the shorts with warm water gradually getting cooler and cooler until the water running from your shorts is clear.
Next put them in the washing machine all by them self and run a light cycle with a light detergent, more of the dye will get rinsed out. Then throw them in drier and you’re done!
This is my shorts after I rinsed them
And this is the finished product. Before and After
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Click here for my tutorial on how to cut shorts.
So I finally got around to bleaching a pair of shorts! It was a lot of fun so I thought I would put up a tutorial.
I made these shorts from a pair that I got at goodwill. You can see how I did it here
So the first thing you need is a tub or something you can soak the shorts in. I used a plastic drawer.
Next mix 2 gallons of water and 3 cups of bleach. You need something you can stir this will.
So this is right after they went in
At this point they’ve been in for 2 hours
As you can see they are lighter but not white. So I turned them over for about at an hour and then I turned them right side up again for another hour or so.
So this after about 4.5 hours
So after 4.5 hours I decided to take them out. Depending on how dark your denim is you might need to leave them in longer. But don’t leave them in for a really long amount of time because the bleach will just wear down the fabric.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
So last night I got home after a long day of dancing and I was starving. My Mom helped me out and we made a delicious dinner. It’s very fast.
These portions make enough for about 4 people. My brother and sister were hungry too so we made enough for them.
1 Can of beans, we used chile beans, but you can use whatever kind you want
1 Package of tortillas
About a quarter of an onion depending on how much you are making, dice it up
1 Can of chicken, it can be sliced chicken if you want
Some Mexican seasoning, didn’t get a picture of that.
And some olive oil for your pan, didn’t get a picture of that either (boo)
So once you have all your ingredients the next thing you want to do is saute your onions in the olive oil. When the onions are kind of translucent add your chicken and beans, and some mexican seasoning.
This is the finished product
Warm up your tortillas in the microwave and grade some cheese if you want it and you’re done!
If you want a little side dish then you can also make some guacamole. To make it really fast just mash up some avocados, and some sliced tomatoes or salsa, some diced onion, a few squirts of lime or lemon juice, and a little bit of salt.
So I hoped you enjoyed the recipe. Here is a picture of the whole thing.
So today I was in a crafty mood and I made some cut off shorts out of some bermuda shorts from goodwill. They were only $3.50 so it didn’t really matter if I totally messed them up or not! But I didn’t mess up, so that made me happy.
So here is a tutorial on how to make them.
Things you will need:
A pair of scissors
A pair of pants/long shorts to cut off
So now that you know what you need lets get started.
This is what the shorts looked like before
So the first thing you do is try them and look in the mirror to get and idea about where you want to cut.
Take your pencil and mark the length you want your shorts to be. Then cut about 2″ below that line so that you have a little wiggle room. You can always take away more but you can never put it back.
So once you have that line it should look something like this
Next cut along that line and try to make both legs as even as possible. But if their a little off that’s okay, you can always even them up.
Next try them on again and see how the length looks. Keep cutting little by little until you have your desired length. Once you’re satisfied with the length your done!
This is what my shorts looked like when I was done
If your shorts have a lot of white threads in them you can pull on those and make them frayed if you like.
So I’m really happy with the way these shorts turned out and I hope you liked this tutorial!
